Design Your Own Tattoo

Using the Internet exclusively to accomplish the task of looking for tattoo designs.

Needless to say the choices are vast. I have decided to write this little article to help you make a very important decision. One that will live with you for the rest of your life, a statement and true testament to who you really are and what you are passionate about.

Decide on your design before you visit a tattoo shop. This will keep you from being rushed into a decision quickly and without giving it much thought, the long term consequences can play upon your emotions to no end. Remember you are putting art on your body that is a symbol of what and who you are for the long term…

Secondly you do not want to rush the process when you Design Your Own Tattoo as there are many categories that you will want to look at from Asian, Tribal, Nature, Gothic and the list goes on. I find it best to look at one category per sitting. This way you are not looking at too much at once. Looking too much at once will only cause frustration not allowing you to consider all possibilities for the decision you are about to make. Get a few good samples per category that you are interested in. Also, very important….as you are looking at tattoo designs keep in mind the location of where you want to put your tattoo.

You should be getting excited when you see your design. If you are having second thoughts then keep looking. This is not the one. You will know when you have chosen the tattoo, it will come alive and you will know and be excited with joy.

Only when you’ve make your final choices should you begin your tattoo parlor visits. I would recommend going to at least 3-5 parlors in your immediate area. You want to feel comfortable with first the facility. Is it clean and sanitary? Next you will want to talk to one or more artists in the shop. Does there work match up to what you are looking for? What is there pricing structure based on design complexity and number of colors? Do there samples of the artist match the design look and feel that you are seeking? Also if you have friends with tattoos, ask them about their experiences and recommendations.

Always ask the tattooist what you need to do before the day of the tattooing? Because of the nature of the work to be performed you will want to ask if you are taking medications and such if they are allowed prior to your visit. Also consuming alcohol is forbidden as well, do not do it, it is not worth the risk. Check with the tattoo artist and confirm, as a second check and a must would be to consult with your family doctor.

All in all this is a very special day and you want to walk out of the shop feeling on top of the world!!!
